Jakarta Shopping

Every time I travel, the first thing I check out for shopping would be local designer stuff. As it does not make any sense to go and check out big shops that I can easily find where I live.

I get excited with new discoveries. I like unique stuff.
So it was definitely a treat when I discovered Level One during my first visit to Jakarta last year.

Level One is a strip of local designer shops in Grand Indonesia.
If you have the chance, make sure to check out Monday to Sunday + Saint and Sinner. Their pieces are on the "avant garde-ish" side. And the stuff that I got from those shops - people always ask me where I get them. So now, my secret is revealed. Shucks. lol. :))

Saint and Sinner. The pieces are more expensive
versus the other shops, BUT they're really nice! :))
And the quality is pretty good.

I super love the dresses + jackets.
Very simple and clean pieces that work well with
fabulous accessories.

Of course, you got all these malls bustling with god-knows-how-many-shops. So for sure, you'll never run out of choices especially with high-end stuff. Oh god, I think the city can be a contender vs Singapore when it comes to luxury shops. :))

But if you're tight with your budget, you might want to check out Mangga Dua. My lovely host Kartika took me there. It's a crazy market - with six floors of small shops and kiosks. But it was too overwhelming for me - two floors, and I gave up. lol. But if you got patience and an eye for good stuff, you'd definitely manage to snag some great finds. Because I did! :))

Six floors. You definitely need more than a day
to do this! lol.

  1. Hi Dawn,

Good to know you're blogging! Looks like you travel a lot and enjoy life. I'm planning to return home for a visit this Christmas. I'm thinking of backpacking Southeast Asia. We'll have to get in touch so can give me tips on where to go!
